Weatherby® Offers New Retrofittable Detachable Box Magazine Kit
Weatherby has introduced a retrofittable detachable box magazine kit that allows hunters and shooters to quickly load and unload their Vanguard rifles.
The detachable box magazine kit retrofits to Vanguard rifles in three popular calibers: .25-06 Remington, .270 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. It also fits selected Howa 1500 rifles as well as Smith & Wesson and Mossberg versions of the Howa 1500 in the same calibers. Weatherby plans to offer the kit for other calibers in coming years.“We have received many requests for this type of accessory because it satisfies a very practical need for hunters and shooters,” said Brad Ruddell, Weatherby’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Equipped with the detachable box magazine kit, they can quickly unload their rifle prior to entering a vehicle, helping to ensure safe and legal travel. When the time comes to get out and get going, they can immediately load their rifle.”
The detachable box magazine kit is designed for easy installation, replacing the rifle’s floorplate/triggerguard, follower and spring, and magazine box. Each magazine holds three rounds (plus one in the chamber). The in-line center feeding system helps ensure reliable, consistent feeding of the ammunition to the rifle.
Due to injection molded polymer construction, the detachable box magazine kit is durable yet saves a half pound of weight over the replaced parts. The kit includes one detachable magazine; additional accessory clips can be ordered from Weatherby. Each magazine is bead blasted to a matte finish, eliminating game-spooking glare.
