New Value-Grade .240 Wby. Mag. Ammunition
Weatherby® announces the newest addition to its value-grade ammunition line for hunters: .240 Wby. Mag.
Ideal for medium-sized game, this cartridge features a 100-grain Spitzer bullet from Norma® of Sweden and uses the same brass, powder, primer and shoulder design found in all Weatherby magnum ammunition. Yet the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is only $43 per box.
Introduced in 1968, the .240 Wby. Mag. is, on average, considerably faster than any existing standard 6mm cartridge. This means more striking energy delivered at the target, with less bullet drop at longer ranges. Weatherby rifles chambered for the .240 Wby. Mag. include the new Mark V® Accumark® RC and Vanguard® Series 2 Back Country.
“For some hunting and shooting applications, you don’t need the performance or cost of a premium-grade bullet,” company President Ed Weatherby said. “With the value-grade .240 Wby. Mag., you get true Weatherby performance at a substantially reduced cost. ”
The Norma Precision Brass comes with CNC-machined primer pockets produced to match-grade specifications. Specially-designed primers provide positive ignition of the large powder charges within the Weatherby Magnum rounds. The ammunition is loaded with Norma High-Grade Premium Powder for maximum velocity and energy, and has a double radius Venturi shoulder design that increases the velocity of escaping gases without increasing the pressure within the cartridge. This results in higher velocity within standard pressure ranges.
