Target Grade Barrel — To achieve superior accuracy, the Mark XXII features an 8-groove, target grade, button-rifled, free-floated barrel with target crown. Built to exact Olympic competition specifications.

Precision-cut Checkering — The select walnut stock features a high gloss finish with precision-cut, fineline diamond point checkering at 18 LPI. Provides a custom look and a sure grip in all conditions.

Fully Adjustable Single Stage Trigger — Allows for precise adjustment of sear engagement and let-off weight from 2 to 4.4 pounds (factory set at 2.5 pounds). You get a clean, crisp trigger that will break precisely-a key component of superior accuracy. (Additional sear engagement adjustments must be performed by a Weatherby Service Center or a qualified gunsmith).

Recessed Bolt Face — Specially designed recessed bolt face surrounds the cartridge head for complete support. Cartridge guide and claw extractor assures positive cartridge feeding and extraction.

Mark XXII® Mounts — Specially designed Talley Mounts feature CNC-machined rings and bases in cold-rolled carbon steel. Precision tolerances ensure a perfect fit where the ring and the base contact. Available as an accessory to the Mark XXII.

Quick Release Magazine — The Mark XXII comes standard with a 5-shot (.22LR) or 4-shot (.17 HMR) magazine that is precision fit. Releases at the push of a button. Accessory magazines are also available (5-shot and 10-shot .22LR and 4-shot .17 HMR).

Legendary Stock Design — Hand-selected walnut is similar to that used in our popular Vanguard® Deluxe. Features Maplewood spacers and rosewood forend and grip cap. Raised comb Monte Carlo design promotes faster eye-to-scope alignment and target acquisition, enhancing shooter comfort and accuracy. Features Pachmayr® rifle pad. In typical Weather fashion, the Mark XXII offers superior wood-to-metal fit and exceptional craftsmanship throughout.

CNC-Machined Receiver — One piece construction of 6060-T hard-coated aluminum. Provides for more precise tolerances and structural integrity than lesser grade cast receivers.

Cleaning Port — A rod hole in the end of the receiver allows for fast, easy cleaning of the action and barrel - a practical feature not found on competitive models, the cleaning port comes in handy both in the field or at the bench.

Button-Rifled Barrel — Forged of hardened 4140-steel alloy, the barrel of the Mark XXII SA is button rifled and features an accuracy-enhancing 11-degree parabolic target crown.

Hand-Tuned Trigger — The Mark XXII SA trigger is manually inspected and factory tuned for precise let-off and reduced creep-enhancing accuracy potential. The rifle also accepts other aftermarket trigger assemblies.

Benz Chamber (.22 LR only) — A superior design to standard .22 LR chambers. The Benz chamber is tighter and has a shorter tapered throat to perfectly center the bullet in the rifling prior to firing. Greatly enhances accuracy potential when kept clean and used with premium ammunition.

CNC-Machined Bolt — The Mark XXII SA bolt is CNC-machined from rock hard 4140-alloy steel (as opposed to competitive bar stock). This affords precise tolerances and consistent headspace and bolt face depths. The firing pin is held in place throughout the length of the bolt for more accurate and consistent hits against the cartridge case.

Aluminum (.22 LR or Steel (.17 HMR) Bolt Handle — Ergonomic "barrel shaped" design is easy to grip and operate.

Bolt Stop Pin — Is supported by the full width of the receiver to assure consistent alignment and striking of the cartridge case. Will not bend or peen.

Quick Release Magazine — The Mark XXII SA comes with a 1-shot (.22 LR) or 9-shot (.17 HMR) magazine that is precision fit. Releases at the push of a button. Accessory magazines are also available.

Fits Aftermarket Accessories — The "footprint" of the Mark XXII SA is designed to accept a wide range of popular aftermarket accessories, including stocks, barrels, magazines and triggerguard assemblies.

Can I send my rifle back to Weatherby for rebluing and installation of a new stock?

Yes - your rifle can be sent to Weatherby for refurbishing or modification.

Weatherby offers rifles in standard caliber chamberings. Do they make ammunition for them?

Weatherby currently manufactures ammunition for Weatherby Magnum calibers only, and has no intentions to manufacture on an ongoing basis standard cartridge ammunition. Weatherby recommends you purchase premium standard cartridge ammunition from a high quality ammunition manufacturer.

NOTE:  Weatherby did produce a small run of non-Weatherby caliber ammunition in 1997. Calibers included: .270 Win., .30-06 Spfd., 7mm Rem. Mag., .300 Win. Mag., .338 Win. Mag., and .375 H&H Mag.

Will Weatherby ever make left-handed rifles again, if so what calibers?

All Weatherby Mark V® rifles (.257 Wby. Mag. - .460 Wby. Mag.) can be ordered as a left-hand model. For more information, please call the Weatherby Custom Shop at (805) 227-2600.

Can I send my rifle back to Weatherby to have an Accubrake installed?

There are Weatherby-authorized Accubrake installation centers located across the United States. You can have an Accubrake installed on your rifle at any one of these centers or in the Weatherby Custom Shop in Paso Robles, CA. The work done by these centers is the same as would be done by the factory and the warranty of the rifle would still be in place. A list of these authorized installation centers can be found on this web site or you can call Weatherby for a list.

Does Weatherby still make rifle scopes? If not, what scope do they recommend?

Weatherby no longer manufactures scopes, nor do we promote any particular brand of scope. We do recommend, however, due to the amount of recoil sometimes experienced with the larger magnum rifles, you choose a well-made, high quality scope.

Does Weatherby have an accuracy guarantee, and what should I do if my rifle does not shoot within the guarantee?

All Weatherby (Mark V® and Vanguard®) rifles are guaranteed to shoot a 1 1/2" (or better) 3-shot group at 100 yards from a cold barrel when used with Weatherby factory ammunition. For Weatherby rifles chambered in non-Weatherby calibers, the guarantee is effective when premium loads are used. If for some reason your rifle does not shoot within the guarantee, Weatherby advises you to send the rifle to a Weatherby-authorized service center. After being tested by the service center, if indeed it does not shoot within the guarantee and the rifle has not been altered, the service center will repair the rifle under warranty, or forward it to the factory for inspection and replacement approval, if deemed necessary.

Select models (SUB-MOA) are guaranteed to shoot .99" or less at 100 yards when used with specified Weatherby factory or premium ammunition (3-shot group).

Are Mark V® barrels cryogenically treated?

No.

Why are some Weatherby® rifles “free floated” and some are not?

We have found through our testing that barrels having a smaller outside diameter than our #3 contour require upward pressure to help stabilize the barrel for increased accuracy.  Our free floated barrels have enough rigidity in the barrel for them to be free floated.
