  1. Only 3 real shots. 2 WT's and a mule

    By DES November 28, 2018

After sighting in, I've only had had opportunity for 3 shots in the last 2 years.. Bagged 4 pt and 5 pt whiptails and a mule. None got an inch past go!
Pretty Stoked with my Mk 5 -06.
Now looking for a garment rifle.

  2. 340 Accumark

    By warden October 31, 2018

3 shots into 1/2" at 100 yards, and 2 six point bull elk in Wyoming. Liking this rifle. German glass helps it see.

  3. OUTSTANDING AMERICAN RIFLE

    By quigley October 30, 2018

I purchased my first Weatherby in 1999 as an avid elk hunter. I had used a Ruger in .338 Win Mag for a number of years. However, shots in the area I hunted were often times 400 yards or more. I wanted a very hard hitting caliber for anything in North America that would deliver a point blank at 400 yards...and I got it. 3/4" MOA groups are the norm. The decelerator recoil pad, rifle weight and the fabulous Weatherby brake make shooting this rather large magnum feel more like a .270 if that. Everything about the rifle is exceptional from build, trigger, finish, it is well worth the money if you have it available. Factory Weatherby ammo is on the steep side at around $7/round. However, I found a licensed and bonded commercial reloader and he fixed me up with 215gr Sierra Game King BTs for about $40 a box. A round leaving the muzzle at a true 3,300 fps and hitting as hard at 500 yards as a 30-06 does at the muzzle. This is one gun that you can take anywhere and not feel under gunned for hunting anything from ground squirrels to griz. And this would be fabulous on any game on any continent not required to have a diameter of .40 caliber. Come to think of it with the fabulous 250 grain Nosler...even if there were no .40 rule, I'd not feel under gunned with this. So, for those who either reload, or go on their annual big game foray you cannot get any better than this. Proponents touting the .30 caliber version will no doubt argue this one but the smaller .308 slug just doesn't have the sectional density to penetrate like a .34 caliber does, nor the huge expansion effected by the .338 chambering. I stopped hunting about 10 years ago. Arthritis and the many rules imposed by the game department shut me down. But, If I were to have only one rifle that I could count on for everything, this would be my number one pick!

  4. Couldn't Ask for Anything Better

    By BuffaloMan October 07, 2018

I have wanted a Weatherby ever since I was a kid. It only took 35 years for me to fulfill my dream with my Mark V Accumark left-hand in 257 Weatherby Mag. I just returned from my pronghorn hunt in Wyoming. I bagged a beautiful 14 inch buck with a head-on shot at 200 yards. I prepared for a broadside shot all summer. But I had the confidence to take the head-on chest shot because I knew the rifle would put the shot where it had to go. I've seen knuckleheads with massive caliber rifles hit pronghorn and the animal runs for 50 or 100 yards. My buck dropped like a ton of bricks for the most humane kill I've ever had. The bolt with the 9 lugs is the most solid action I've found on the market. At the end of the day I love the rifle, the rock solid construction and craftsmanship, and the confidence it gives me to take down game with a shot I need to make.
