Dead nuts accurate
I've owned several accurate rifles in my life. Out of the box, my Mark V .257 is at the top. Better than my SAKO Hunter. Don't get me wrong, my SAKO serves me very well but my Mark V .257 is tops. The Weatherby Ultra High Velocity ammo with the Mark V .257 is the perfect combination. I only shoot out to 400 yards and there isn't much of a spread. Game doesn't go far. Shutter and drop. Prtetty simple.
Accuracy Accumark Mark V
Great firearm I highly recommend this rifle 6.5 300 Weatherby Magnum. Removed rifle from the box installed a Trijicon 5x20x50 scope and boresighted the rifle. Drove to the range with 2 shots we were on target perfect. Shot 2 rounds at 100 yrds both were touching, moved out to 200 yrds shot 2 rounds both were touching again. Then moved the target to 500 yrds fired 2 rounds the second shot went through the same hole as the first. I don't think you can ask for any more than that !
I found the Mark V Accumark in 240 Wby NIB at a gun show and just couldn't pass it up. Shoots really well and nicer to carry with the 24" barrel even though I know I lose a bit of velocity. I have successfully taken a nice Mule buck with the cartridge so I would totally recommend this rifle.
Rifle is built very precisely and delivers excellent accuracy...
Decided to retire my Remington 721 wood stocked 300 H & H rifle and step into the 21st century. Purchased a Weatherby USA-made Accumark in 300 Weatherby. The short and positive bolt throw won me over. When I was mounting a scope I was amazed I almost did not need to bore-sight adjust the rifle to "hit paper" at 100 yds. More precision built into the rifle and less adjust the sloppy-build out of the rifle with optics. Sighted in with Weatherby Select 300 Weatherby 180 grain factory ammo. WOW! I believe I would have shot a sub 1" group with a whole box of 20 but after 7-8 shots and the group sitting steady at 3/4" I decided enough wasting ammo. The rifle was exposed to snowy cold icy conditions this last Elk season. The stainless steel and synthetic combo just shrugged at the conditions. American know-how at work here...
Can't find a better rifle.
I bought one of the first Accumarks that came out in .338-378 Weatherby Magnum and it became my go to big game rifle. I have three 400 plus point elk taken at over 300 yards. One shot on each, and the elk never took a step.
I had used a 300 Weatherby Mark V for years on whitetail and mule deer. Longer range western hunting and always one shot with no tracking.
These guns all have amazing quality and accuracy, and you can count on them in any kind of weather. I have finally replaced by 300 with a newer version with a synthetic stock.
